The sun has worked its magic...

My cherry blossom tree is alive with activity, its positively humming with excitement…over the past few days the sun’s warmth has encouraged blooms to develop from tight buds to big blousy flower heads that have enticed flying insects that drone in their droves. The business of their buzz is displayed with back legs that bulge and hang heavy nectar sacks that weigh them down; they dangle at precarious angles despite being overwhelmed for choice. The sky is radiant blue again, cloudless and the sun beams encourage the blossoms to bloom more gorgeousness than imaginable.

Saturday morning dawning sunny and bright...

A Little more sun and the blooms unwind...

And this morning it looks like this:

Over the coming days, as this wondrous warmer than usual spring weather continues, the petals will loose their pink hue and become tinged with white as the colour fades and then the blossom will fall as confetti a pretty dusting of gorgeousness.

And to think it looked like this back in 2008!

  1. Fab photos, hun!

I've just watched a little finch hopping around collecting soft bits for her nest. She was being overseen by a very protective looking male with a bright yellow tum - he had his beady eye on an agressive-looking robin close by!

    I love spring. xxx

    1. Hi Rachel, I hope all is well your end, can’t say I’ve seen a robin with malice in his eye before, my robins all seem so sweet natured, especially the one who sits on the spade handle and surveys the garden from his personal perch!

    1. Glad you like the pics, blossoms falling today and now been pelted by heavy rain, so glad I got shots for posterity.

  4. I have a memory of childhood of picking ripe cherries when my father was stationed in Germany. I still love them as an adult but have to buy them from the store (They're not as good) My name is James Tate--first year of the A-Z thing. Nice to meet you. I live in Southeast Texas where the bluebonnets are in full bloom. A drive in the country can do a lot to clear the mind and allow the creative wheels to turn. Thanks for the pictures.

    1. Well I had to look up bluebonnets James and I have to say they look stunning, think we call them Lupins here and not due out for several months yet, but who knows with this cranky weather we are currently experiencing! Nice to meet you too. Of course we have Bluebells out now so I’m made up – absolutely the very best time of year.
      Are you on twitter?

  8. This is what I miss most from my years in UK - the early spring .. even if it's early (too early really). 2008 I lived in Brighton and we had snow at Easter or very close to Easter, where out on the Pier when I start snowing. Wonderful post.
